DIRECTIONS

By Car, Please Carpool if possible

Please coordinate car pool rides with people located near you.  Use the free online service http://www.spaceshare.com/permaculture/index. to give or receive a ride to the course.  The site is fairly remote and please give yourself ample time for the travel.

From Highway 101: From the Northern Ca and Bay Area; Travel South on the 101 to Prundale and Merge onto CA-156 W via exit 336 towards Monterey Peninsula. 156 W becomes Ca-1 south. Traveling another 42 miles south to Big Sur. See directions below once in Big Sur.

From Southern California on the 101; Travel north on the 101 to Salinas area and take exit Marked Monterey Peninsula, Turn Right on S. Sandborn Rd, which becomes E Blanco Rd.  Turn Left onto S. Main Street/ CA-Hwy 68 continue to fallow 68 West to Monterey where it merges into Hwy 1 travel South another 30 miles to Big Sur. See directions Below once in Big Sur,

From Sacramento: Travel west on us-50 towards San Francisco. Capital City Freeway merges to I-80 west.  Merge onto I-680 S Via Exit40 towards Benicia/San Jose.  Merge onto US-101 S towards LA. Merge onto CA-156 W via exit 336 towards Monterey Peninsula. 156 W becomes Ca-1 south traveling another 42 miles south to Big Sur. See directions below once in Big Sur, Est Time 3.75 hrs

Once in Big Sur.  As you enter the Big Sur Valley you will see a number of small stores and restraints. Big Sur River Inn is the first one, From here travel 3 miles south. You will  pass  Pfeiffer State Park and the ranger station, at this point you will be going on a continuous uphill. Turn right on Sycamore Canyon rd. This Sharp turn leads you down to Pfeiffer Beach Go 2 miles. (If you come to the Big Sur Deli/ Post Office you have gone about ½ mile too far.)

 As you travel down Sycamore canyon be careful, as this is a windy and narrow road. After 2 miles from Hwy 1 (1/2 mile before the beach) there will be a steep dirt road to the right marked “Front Hill Rd” Turn up this road and travel up the ridge for 1 Mile.  Stay on the main road and follow the PFR signs to you reach our site on the right where you will be able to Park.  This is the home of Barkley Henry where we will be Parking and having our main classroom space.  Our Kitchen and camping will be at Brock and Teresa Bradford's, which is just Next-Door about a 2-minute walk.  It’s easy - 3 miles from River Inn to Sycamore Cyn. - 2 miles to Front Hill and 1 mile to the barn.
